My Experience

We arrived at Yellowstone right before sunset after camping at a KOA near Mount Rushmore. We stopped at Yellowstone Lake and the visitor center and even saw a buffalo walking along the road when we entered the park. Then, we put our tent down at a site at Lewis Lake (The only campsite with available sites when we arrived). Then we headed right to Old Faithful to try to catch the geyser before it got dark. We made it just in time and saw the eruptionwithin 5 minutes of arrival. Then headed back to Lewis Lake to set up our site before it got dark.

My Photos

We woke up early and packed up our tent before exploring. Due to our time restrictions we only got to explore the southern area between the East Entrance and the West Entrance. We hope to return one day to explore the Northern features! Some of our favorite locations were:

  • Old Faithful at Upper Geyer Basin

  • Black Sand Basin

  • Biscuit  Basin - hiked the Mystic Falls trail to the Mystic Falls (Beautiful Waterfall)

  • Grand Prismatic Spring at the Midway Geyser Basin
